Vampire Reign of the Southern Belle POSTED ON AMAZON
As I was cooing my newborn baby girl to sleep, I saw her peaceful, resting face and was reminded by what her father had done to me, how he had betrayed me. He left me for another woman, he gave my spot on the throne away that was rightfully mine, and one day his daughter's. Theodore would feel my wrath one day, one day when his daughter was old enough to show him who she was. Theodore quickly disposed of me once he realized I was pregnant.
"Aquilla," the nurse said and I turned. "you are needed in the parlor, madam." She bowed. "I can take the child for you."
I looked down at her sleeping face, one tiny hand was wrapped around my first finger. I nodded and kissed her head before gently shifting her into the nurse's arms. As I left the room I smelled a familiar scent and it heavier as I drew closer to the parlor. Once I rounded the corner I smiled.
"Welcome, William." I said and curtsied in my floor length dress.
"How is the child, Aquilla?" he asked as I took a seat on one of the couches, he sat across from me.
"She is wonderful. Have you any more on the bastard?" I responded.
"His wife is pregnant. It is a son."
I bared my fangs at him.
"He won't get away with this." I growled and looked outside at the darkening sky.
"No, I assure you not, my lady."
William had been one of my truest friends for as long as I could remember.
"Oh William, dear, cut that out. You know better." I said and smiled. He was actually one I could say was
the one close and trustworthy more than anyone else in the southern states. William grinned.
"I will make sure Priscilla will have her rightful place as Lady, it is only fair for all that you have done for
me, Aquilla."
"Thank you, William."
As he glanced out the window his eyes blackened and became like pitch.
"The babe is due in 6 moons."
"Far enough time to take the throne."
"Indeed," he said and looked back at me. His eyes had returned to normal and fangs gently poked at his
lower lip, just barely sticking out if you concentrated enough, but no human would ever notice. "It's a good night for a hunt. Wish to join me?" he asked as the sun finished setting and the sky became black.
I glanced up and listened to my babe's heart, it was steady, she was still asleep. I had a while. I nodded.
"Let me change and I'll meet you out front by the grove." I told him and got up to go change into my pantaloons, poet's shirt, and boots that normally were men's and were taboo among women, except I hated dirtying such a pleasant dress; that and it is more than tiring trying to run carrying an extra large amount of weight on than necessary. "Please excuse me."
